Peet moss and earth on the nose carry on to the mid palate, evolving in crushed granite, currants and herbs. A true terroir focused wine with little manipulation done during the winemaking process.

Meaty nose. Sweet but pinch nose and you don’t get much sweetness. Strawberry, raspberry. Silky.

I have one each of the 2010 and 2011 vintage. And, I will say that the 2011 vs 2010 comparison in CDP seems to be rather similar to Napa 2011 vs 2012/2010 when it comes to style. There is something very charming about these '11 CDP wines from well known producers. Where is the 2010 are extremely dark, punchy, full throttle, these 2011's are definitely lighter. Nose of iodine, plum, black cherry. Entry is sweet, dark figs for a second, and then turns into a lighter black cherry and cigar, hint of iodine, hint of bacon fat. Middle is plum, cola, earth. Finishes with quite a bit of acidity. Black pepper, plum, oregano, basil. Really intriguing wine. Wish I had more!! IMO this is a hold or drink wine. I actually do still expect this one to improve quite a bit in the bottle.

Not a bad little CDP at all. Purchased about 2.5 years ago, and a big question mark about when to actually drink these. As most 2010's are still resting, these 2011's seem to be ready to rock, with subdued intensity to the 2010 for sure. This wine poured a dusty rose into the glass. The nose was a dirty raspberry, shallot...a little stinky. The entry of this wine is much more fruit forward in a terroir driven way. Raspberry tea, foresty, a little herbal, still getting a shallot kind of note. The finish is 1/3 pepper, 1/3 dusty raspberry and rose, and 1/3 herbal. Neat little CDP, but doesn't knock your socks off. Very complex, so it definitely gets you thinking. Approachable now, but probably better in a year or two. I don't expect this one to go beyond 2022 or so without some serious repercussions.
