La Colombera
Derthona Colli Tortonesi Timorasso
Scents of lemon custard pie when it was first poured and that shifted to sea water and then to more of a green dulse or Kombu smell after just a few minutes in the glass!
I love the taste of this Piedmont white. Soft on the palette with a wonderful maturity that includes light tannins and a freshly acidic after taste- what balance! Would love to try a few bottles of this every year to see what it has to offer with even more age.

2011. Very cool, almost Riesling in profile. We finished it before it really had a chance to open up with flair.

Jun 20th, 2017Gold color, showing the 5 years of age on this. The nose shows wood, barrel age, exotic spices, a hint of fresh cut marshmallow, and a mineral driven funk. The palate is fairly lean, carrying through the funky, woody flavors up front with the slightest bit of effervescence, quickly transposing with a burst of acidity to an almost Sauternes-like off-dry sweetness. The finish is packed with a savory umami flavor you normally don't see. Great out of the ordinary find. I suddenly want to seek out more of this varietal!
