Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

A tasting of nine 2012 Sonoma Coast Pinots. Found the Kutch to be a bit too tannic/astringent for my taste. We thought maybe it was due to stemminess from whole cluster but haven’t tracked this down yet. Stay tuned.

Couldn’t Wait. Excellent

Blue and red fruit. Sarsaparilla. Deep fruit, sweet tannins.

Black cherry, mushroom, damp earth, licorice, sweet berries.

Cherry, berry, a bit of cola. Good stuff.

Berry compote, sarsaparilla, rhubarb and raspberry. Very nice.

Strong acidity, cool red fruit, and a strong green bell pepper note that should integrate with a few more years.

Blackberry, red and black licorice, rhubarb nose. Black fruit, licorice root, tart fruit and tannic finish. Almost like a Pinot, Cab Franc blend. Interesting.

Strong acidity and low alcohol. Red fruited and moderate tannic presence. Cool, refreshing and tangy. Better with food given the profile.

Lighter and fresher than the '15 a hint of that candy from the '16 McDougall. I wonder if there is any in the blend.
