2012 vintage. When in Athens...dark ruby hue. Green peppers, garrigue, dark ripe cherries and herbal, menthol tones. Some leathery notes developing. On the palate, full bodied, high alcohol (integrated), medium plus tannins - grippy. Pronounced concentration. Medium plus finish. Cherries and plums, creamy textured, the acidity is high and I suspect tartaric has been added here as there is an astringency on the mid palate. This is a textured wine, fairly silky and round. The herbal notes to the fore, licorice and dark ripe cherries. Had I had this blind, I would have guessed a Mourvèdre / Carignan based blend from Languedoc (or Bandol). Decent.
