Lemon oil, pineapple core, kumquat. Lemongrass? Round, not extraordinarily herbal, lovely length. First Indian wine! Later vintages are apparently oaked, this one is not

The 2016 vintage of Krsma's delicious Sauvignon Blanc is just off the press, so to speak. It sports a lovely nose, rich and clean simultaneously, and vibrant acidity that dances on the palate, making it a great food wine. No extremes of cat pee or fresh cut grass. Instead, this wine shows a complex array of aromas of wet straw, green hay, chalky minerality, and mimosa flowers. You know it is a balanced portrayal of Sauvignon Blanc. This wine has an unusually long, tapered and penetrating finish, and lovely projection on the nose. As is often the case with just released wines, it will need time to fully integrate and show at its best, but the promise is there. This wine competes on the world stage.

This lovely wine has beautifully balanced, though rich, white fruit (white peach, nectarine) and white flower delicate floral overtones on a rich, intriguingly viscous core. This is an intriguing wine in many ways: (1) because it is far more like a rich, fruity, balanced (and blessedly not grotesquely over oaked as some competitors are) rounded Chardonnay than a Sauvignon Blanc, though the Sauvignon Blanc varietal element rests in the background, giving the wine a structure many Chardonnays lack, (2) this wine is produced in India, where one battles to find quality in the spread from ubiquitous Sula and similar wines, to some quite pretentious, over oaked, over extracted, Parkerized wines that are as undrinkable as their counterparts elsewhere, (3) the alcohol content is moderate, and (4) there is a consistency of profile from the moderately rich nose through the viscous mouthfeel through the relatively long, smooth finish. Bravo!

Unmistakenly Sauvignon Blanc. The sensation of cats pee hit you right at your nose as soon as you inhale. On the palate, it offers up very bright fruit profile - lots of tangerine, cantaloupe, and stone fruits. Good wine!

The nose tells you that you have sauvignon blanc in your glass but in a very controlled voice. No cat pee or freshly mowed lawn but rather nectarine, lime and melon. Sold acidic structure and moderate complexity. The first wine I have tasted from India and I was very pleased.
