So very dark in the glass. Inky purple with ruby undertones. Big, big fruit on the nose with boysenberry, blueberry, and black cherries. This was a big boy in typical Napa Cab style but there was also a sense of fun in this bottle. Such an odd blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Carignane, it’s definitely made to be a crowd pleaser, however, there’s a level of sophistication that other Cali blends just aren’t working with. On the palate, the fruit continues but olives, smoked meat, dark damp earth, and a good bit of oak all join the party. The finish is a little short and there isn’t as much complexity here as I wanted, but all in all, a pretty fun wine.
