Weekly Wednesday Wine Committee and this was a special treat as not only was Weston from Montagu Wines in attendance, but Jason Moore, owner and winemaker for Modus Operandi Wines out of Napa. Blind format as always. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert.

I feel like I’d drink more Kistler if it was more consistent. When Kistler is on, it competes with the best of them, but I’ve found a few examples of where it falls on its face. Today, it was ON. Sweet lemon cream, lemon tart, honeyed hazelnut, smoky cashew. Great balance. Drink!

Got to take advantage of another Wednesday Wine Committee and boy was it worth it. Wow! Killer wines brought by Glenn for his 60th! As always, wines tasted blind. 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert wine.

For the 3 whites, the table guessed three west coast chardonnays, and most agreed they fit Kistler's profile. Spot on. Stone fruit, white flower, lemon pie.

Just starting to exhibit the nutty/caramel signs of age. Still had plenty of tropical fruit and golden apples. Mouth coating without storming the gates. Delicious.

Bright aromas of lemons and pears emerge from the glass upon nosing. Judicious use of oak allows for a beautiful mineral edge to come to the forefront while notes of pepper and white flowers follow. Definitely a more restrained style of California Chardonnay that I am loving these days.

Great chard. Full body, mineral feel. Pairing with a halibut fillet was perfect
