Blackberry, cedar, tobacco, black raspberry
Initial fresh blackberry flavors followed by leather and pencil shavings,
Lighter and more earth toned pallet than nose would indicate.
Moderate acidity, moderate tannin. Short finish.
Overall somewhat uninspiring but not overly ripe and fruity.

Initially, the dark fruits consisting of plum and fig leap out of the glass. There's also some baking spices, an herbaceous note reminiscent of bell peppers, and a touch of oak. On the palate, more plum. The oak is not too overwhelming. While the acidity is medium to medium+, tannins is only medium-. Some might like this wine because it's an easy drinking California cab, but it needs more tannin/structure to make it more balanced. Length is medium with a somewhat bitter aftertaste. At the end of the day, the imbalance is what's holding this wine back. Also, not a whole lot of complexity here. However, can't complain too much for $10.
Purchased January 2024.

Another Cabo Costco find for about $15. A very nice wine at this price point. Might be cheaper in the USA, I’ll have to check.

Oct 17th, 2023Update from my last review. This bottle is much better than the first one I had. These things happen. Medium body cab, not too tanic, some subtle notes (particularly for a Cal Cab) and a nice finish. Good find for about $10.
