Alto Adige Lagrein

2011. Nine months after my last note on this wine, little has changed. Clean, taut, complex, with a great stony backbone. Perfect tonight with charred ribeyes and salad. Feels like I'm back in Northern Italy. $24. 13% abv.

Solid wine, went very well with pot roast and turnips.

2011. I see some low votes from a year or two ago. For us tonight, with grilled bone-in pork chops, along with some spicy roasted green beans, this thing is singing. Complex, well integrated, concentrated. Loving this!

Bright cherries and bursting blueberries. Slight sweet meatiness and brown spice.

My note below from June is still good. I would recommend serving this with a teensy bit of a chill. Gets a bit too full of itself as it warms up. Love this grape.

St Michael-Eppan Lagrein 2015: Medium-plus body. Bold fruit flavors. Plum & blackberry with subtle hints of tobacco & leather. For me, this wine had the right amount of acidity & tannins, hence making for a dry & smooth finish. It’s always great to enjoy Italian mountain wine when the weather is cold & crisp. St. Michael-Eppan Lagein 2015: Full-bodied. Dark. Dry. Fruit flavors of plum & blackberry with hints of tobacco & leather. For me, this wine has the right amount of acidity and tannins, making for a smooth enjoyable finish. Fresco ma equilibrato molto piacevole poco persistente

Chocolate, some cherry, tobacco, medium to full body. Very good round wine!
