Kayra
Öküzgözü
In 2011, I stopped for lunch along the Red River in Avanos, Turkey. Our group had a wonderful meal in a scenic setting. My friends new I was a wineaux and the host brought out an earlier vintage of this wine. The 2012 has the weight and funk of a Pinot Noir and the tannins and structure of Sangiovese. The nose reminds me of earthy wildflowers and the palate has red and blue fruit compote, cola, and a touch of sweet oak. Balanced and enjoyable, I think the 2012 is good through 2027.
