Deep garnet-black with a hint of brick, the 2006 Amery Vineyard Hillside Shiraz has pronounced notes of smoked game, hung meat, dried plums and kirsch, some cigar boxes, Chinese five spice and mocha. Structured, rich, very full and opulent on the palate is has a medium-firm level of rounded tannins and a long spicy finish. Drinking beautifully now, it has some potential to evolve further and should cellar to 2019+.
JH 94
Strong colour; a generous, full-bodied shiraz, replete with black fruits, savoury notes and ample tannins are presented with a backdrop of mocha/vanillan oak. Very good wine with along future.
Traditional, with ripe dark berry, dark chocolate, roasted chestnut, malty aromas. Plush black berry, malt, grilled chestnut and dry chocolaty tannins.
Totally opaque midnight black core with a deep very dark red black tinged hue. Liquorice and dark chocolate aromas bound from the glass intermingling with dark plum, vanillin oak, mocha and spice notes. Rich and flamboyant the palate is generously endowed with flavours of liquorice and dark plums infused with mocha, vanillin oak and spice. A subtle touch of leather also emerging. There’s a faint trace of spicy heat on the finish, otherwise it’s still in great shape. Rounded, velvety mouthfeel and tannins with a long aftertaste of liquorice, dark plum, spicy, vanillin oak and hints of mocha.Drink over the next 2-3 years.
