See notes for 3 previous occasions. Dark dark Ruby - almost black A full bodied Margaret River Cabernet but tasting more South Australian as I said in a previous note. Dense and concentrated - 2009 was an excellent vintage in Margaret River. Juniper is not one of the icons over there but this is punching well above its price point. Tastes much younger than its 14 years. Could go on for another 5 years I feel - my last one. Masses of sweet black currant on the palate.

Sep 24th, 2023A vibrant (considering the age) deep crimson. Mint, Herbs, Blackcurrant. Still reasonably tight with a long life ahead. A good balanced Margaret River Cabernet at a lesser price than the premium Cuvées but not far behind them in quality. Fluid, persistent and ultimately dry tannins. A strong performer on the Show Circuit with 6 Gold Medals and a Trophy from major Wine Shows. Had another bottle on 11th August 2022. Not typically Margaret River with Cassis and Black currant. Still plenty of power.

Jan 12th, 2022See previous notes from November 2020. Herbaceous is the word together with plum and blackberry - some earthiness with a note of mushroom. In summary - Herbal, Mineral, Bay leaf. Not the complete package like it’s more illustrious Wilyabrup neighbours like Woodlands, Moss Wood, Vasse Felix, Cullen etc but also half the price so good QPR. Tasted again 60 weeks later on 6th September 2022 with similar results A good wine that drinks to its price point. Not quite the standard of its illustrious neighbours. Not as much maritime influence?

Jul 11th, 2021Rich with fruit and oak with good depth and that trademark Margaret River herbaceousness. Juniper Estate represents great QPR in Margaret River at $50 competing with their better known neighbours in Wilyabrup who are twice the price plus. Drink the last 2 bottles in the next few years.

Nov 9th, 2020More berry/cassis than leafy herbal Margaret River style - touches of capsicum though. Very enjoyable but I don’t know whether I would pick this as Margaret River in a blind tasting. Medium bodied but M+ intensity. Nearby neighbors of some of the big name producers without the price tag. Tasted another bottle 43 weeks later on 7th February 2020 with similar notes but showing more Margaret River herbaceousness. Excellent QPR for a Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon. 92 points. Tasted another bottle on 19th March 2022 with consistent notes. Pretty much a typical Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon. 3 bottles left. Tasted another on 3rd February 2023 with consistent notes. Had this with pasta. I didn’t think that was a good food/wine match but it worked perfectly. Tasted my 2nd last bottle on 28th June 2023. Certainly not a typical herbaceous Margaret River Cabernet. More cassis and blackberry like a South Australian Cabernet.

Apr 11th, 2019From the Wilyabrup dress circle in Margaret River near Woodlands and Moss Wood but not showing the normal leafy herbaceous style. This is showing more fruit like Blackberries and Mulberries. Good intensity and length with medium dry tannins.
