Another bottle from my NZ cellar and it was interesting to drink this one alongside the 2008 (previous tasting note).
It's a corduroy jeans maroon colour on the eye with a plummy perfume. The nose is refined and elegant with hints of cranberries, violets and a touch of smoke. The palate is full of juicy plums, liquorice, currants and vanilla with graceful tannins and a lively acidity that balances this tipple out well. I enjoyed both vintages however this 2010 was my ultimate preference.

Jan 29th, 2016As I've been travelling for the past few years now, I've just told my family to pop a bottle of vino in my cellar at mum and dads for birthdays and Christmases. This is one of those!
This 2008 Pinot from Johner Estate is a dark red, bricky colour on the eye with earthy, farmy aromas laced with subtle hints of oak and raspberry jam. The palate has a nice oomph with gritty yet soft tannins and a tantalising plummy flavour. Lovely wine and an interesting night trying it up against its little brother the 2010 - tasting note to come.
