This is the latest project from winemaker Joel Saurel of Domaine Saint Damien in Gigondas. 80% Grenache and 20% Marselan, a hybrid between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Generous blackberry and black cherry up front with a hint of pepper on the finish. Ripe but not jammy, this wine is zippy, lively and full of pep. Perfect for serving guests terrific Vin De France at a sensational value.

Not bad for under 12 bucks a bottle. Would I pick it up again? No. I'm on the quest for other Rhone wines in this price range I enjoy more.
