Longevity Merlot Blend
Contrary to what the Delectable label says, this vintage is a Cab Sauv dominant blend (Merlot is 34%). Right now the cola and cherry notes are most prominent and the tobacco/cigar box notes follow on subtly. This is an elegant but easy to sip wine. It’s namesake does it justice too... it could easily age another decade or so.

Oct 7th, 2019It lives up to it’s name. Though 2010 wasn’t the best year, probably the worst of this decade actually, this wine is still very drinkable and has stood this short test of time very well. Profile is dominated by the cab (37%) at this stage as the Merlot (40%) has faded a little. The Malbec and Petit Verdot making up the rest are subtle/hiding. Dark brambly berries/black cherry, faint cola notes, tobacco and wet stone/pencil shavings are the prominent flavors and aromas. It is probably good for at least a few more years. :)

Nov 17th, 2018Amazing this wine is still very tight. The Merlot (40%) is dominant, but taking a second seat to the Cab Sauv (26%) at this point (cherry notes are most prevalent initially). Interestingly, all the BDX reds are in this, including Carmenere (2%). Big tannic grip, with hints of black plum, tobacco, leather and white pepper (Carm!). Yum!!

May 30th, 2018Cherry, black cherry, salumi, cola and herbs - I thought 10 years was enough but should have given it a few more. Pretty impressed

Sep 5th, 2017I was worried this 2008 was getting long in the tooth. Not even close! Silky tannins, succulent bing cherries, hints of smoked meat and leather, graced by a dusting of white pepper. Yum!
