Les Chaumes Vosne-Romanée Vieilles Vignes 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Thin red colour. Smoky spicy nose. Fruit on the front, spicy on the back. Thin wine, high alcohol

Needs a few more years to flesh out as it is on the austere side with dark fruits and dried herb spices. Aux Reas VV

2012. This was very good, but a disappointment alongside the other Fourriers tonight and in the context of what you'd expect from a Vosne-Romanee 1er cru with Fourrier's name on the label (negociant wine, of course). This is basically showing as an elegant and very purely fruited pinot noir, but there's no real sense of terroir here or any kind of the exotic spice character that Chaumes shows at its best.
