J. Wilkes
Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

Almost delicate ruby color with nice, long legs and a wide brim. Plenty of fruit on the nose with cherries and cranberry. There’s also a touch of oak and cinnamon. Plenty of heat from the alcohol but the high acidity more than adequately compensated and balances everything out. The palate continues with fruit but adds some rusticness with oak, tons of spice, and chalky minerality. This is a highly interesting and appealing Pinot. One that really surprised me in the end. Let this one breathe and you shall be rewarded.

Elevated acidity is masking elevated alcohol creating balance that actually works. My wife was detecting cinnamon stick

This was pretty enjoyable. Cherries berries medium bodied. Have had much worse.
