200 cases produced. Assessing… Purple, very good clarity, moderate pigment extraction. Black currant aroma and flavor with depth, butter, wood in mouth with moderate but medium-grained skin astringency on the finish. Some seed bitterness in aftertaste. After an hour, blackberry and pomegranate flavors emerge while tannins soften up. After 90 minutes, spearmint and herbal notes come out in the finish. Decant at least 90 minutes. Well crafted, really nice version of this varietal.

Seed tannins in finish need time to aerate. Cherry cough syrup aftertaste. 148 cases made. Nice wine, well made, great varietal and local character.

Jul 27th, 2019Dense dark purple-red, highly extracted. Weedy minty buttery notes in nose. Blackberry, cherry and eucalyptus flavors initially , slightly hot, cherry cough syrup finish. Bitter aftertaste, moderate astringency. Flavors integrate and tannins soften somewhat after an hour - cherry, blueberry and blackberry flavors with length and a hint of mint-eucalyptus and black currant, with the tactile sensation of black pepper on the finish. Give this one an hour’s decanting before enjoying, a joy of a wine, well balanced and easy drinking, not remotely overripe but on point varietally in its expressive flavor profile. Plum flavors eventually emerge 2-3 hours after opening.
