2004 Rubicon Captain's Reserve (Oakville) This Oakville Cab is a little smaller than the Robert Mondavi Oakville of the same vintage. Still high alcohol at 14.5%, but the tannins are less aggressive. Black cherries and menthol dominate with some damp soil and dusty leather. Still good tannins and would pair nicely with prime rib or filet mignon, or any nest dish with subtle flavor and/or without a heavy sauce. Definitely needs to be enjoyed NOW, as the subtleties are rapidly disappearing.
