Rosso di Montepulciano Sangiovese

Mid Ruby in colour. Aromatic red fruits. Light weight but medium plus intensity. Red cherry. Palate shows balsamic ultra savoury notes with other Mediterranean herbs. Interesting the title of this wine and I recall it being a trick question in the WSET Exams where this is called a Rosso di Montepulciano but the wine is 100% Sangiovese. The vineyard is biodynamic the fermentation is done in cement and the oak regime is all large and has no flavour impact on the wines. Had the 2nd and final bottle 18 weeks later on the 8th November 2022. Bright red cherry notes which develop a savoury twist with air. Perfect with pasta.

Remarkable wine

소믈리에의 추천을 잊지 못해(?) 다시 찾아와 주문한 일 마끼오네. 시에나 지방 산지오베제 와인으로, 코르크가 건조했다며 독특하게 와인을 오픈해주었다. 오래된 빈티지답게 벽돌색을 띠는 미디움 바디감의 와인으로, 풍부한 과실향보다는 미네랄감, earthy함이 크게 느껴진다. 향신료향과 탄닌감도 강했다. 표현을 인용하자면 “가을날 바닥에 떨어진 낙엽을 밟은 것 같은 냄새”가 난다고. 음!

여름의 끝자락이자 가을의 초입이 느껴지는 밤에 마시는 산지오베제 100%의 이탈리안 와인. 11년의 숙성을 거치면서 색은 옅은 벽돌색을 띄게 되었고 미디엄 바디감을 보여준다. 1달반 정도 후에 마실 수 있었다면 계절과도 더할나위 없이 잘 어울렸을것 같다. 가죽과 오크통, 나무와 가을 나뭇잎 향을 부드럽게 갖추고 있고 흔들었을 때 향의 끝에서는 하얀꽃의 느낌도 받을 수 있다. 색깔처럼 부드럽고 무겁지 않게 넘어가기에 차분하게 흔들의자에서 이 와인을 따놓고 가을바람과 즐길 수 있다면 세상 부럽지 않을 듯.
