I carried this bottle back from Italy in 2013 & opened for Christmas 2016. Tannin forward at opening, but opened up very nicely after 30 min. & smoothed out. Rich velvety maroon color. Earthy rich bouquet. Balanced fruit & oak tannins, cherry, vanilla, tobacco & pepper notes. Worthy of the occasion .
