Hope Well
Eola-Amity Hills Chardonnay
Eola - Amity Hills, Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA

I read an article about the winery and bought a bottle while visiting Portland several years ago. I’m glad I did. This is one of those rare bottles. with which I can connect the story behind it.
Aromas of white peach, lemon zest, orchard blossom, and wet stone. The palate is taut and finely etched with bright acidity carrying a silky, weightless texture. A faint flinty reduction lend a rustic edge, while subtle oak frames without intruding. Long saline finish. Transparent and ethereal.
12.5% abv. 1500 bottles made.

Cved twice already and finally opened, it only seems to get better stored in Cali bottle, good sign for long aging. A sense of complexity lingers during a long finish and tend to evolve. It’s a different mirror than the Burgundian one to reflect what’s so enticing about wine. Upping two points! Also empty glass left overnight did show nice leftover aroma which wasn’t the case previously.

Sep 8th, 2023Cved 10/26/20 Chardonnay comp. equally compelling nose as Trousse-chemise but with notes of the farm and fields! Almost caressing the nose. More supple and balanced palate and lively texture carrying to a gentle finish. Such an interesting comp. should try the 2018 too. Cved again 9/2/23 and it’s fine! Same notes but seemed to have gained a bit of weight in a good way, as it’s showing some power in the overall finish. It’s terrific.
