Oh my. This is the business for my palate. Absolutely spot on. You know when a wine has some kind of energy to it, that the moment it hits your mouth you just know that it's ticking all of your boxes. After an hour the acid became a little shrill, but apart from that, this bottle was wonderful.

The 2006 vintage of this luxury Hollick Cabernet. Tasted blind at the Downs Club I thought it was from Margaret River. Should have detected the extra mintiness from Coonawarra. Lacked some mid palate fruit. Not great value for money at over $105. 17.

Nearly won the blind tasting at the Downs Club. Got down to the fact that it was a South Australian Cabernet Sauvignon that was over 8 years old. The choice was Coonawarra or Barossa Valley. I went Barossa as I thought it was not showing the minty herbal characters one expects from Coonawarra. I was wrong. Barossa is best for Shiraz IMO except for some classic old Penfolds plantings like Block 42.

Excellent full bodied red as you'd expect from this region.

Well balanced Cabernet Sauvignon - old world in style. Whilst strong alcohol content (14.5%) didn't feel 'hefty' at all.
