Not bad at all for a $50 bottle from Hestan! Bordeaux style Cab blend, made by Jeff Gaffner. Needed tons of breathing time before it was finally settled. Blackberry cobbler, leather, and cocoa powder on the nose, and an extremely rich pallet exhibiting notes of dark cherry, Créme-de-Casis, mocha, bell pepper (faintly, and in a way that relieves you from the almost cloying richness), and a touch of raisin and spices in a lingering finish. Alcohol is at 15.2%, and even after 7 years it has some firm tannins. I'd say this is a wonderful one to have around if you like stuff from Hestan, or even want more richness and tannin than Caymus, for a much better price. Great to share, but I won't judge you if you don't. 😉
