Wow! Crazy red and black berry fruit turning almost raisin. Cocoa and spice. Acidity coming through still in particular as the evening wore on. Needed at least 3-4 hours in decanter to open up and reveal its complexity. The third bottle in 4 years from the same vintage and showing a beautiful, luscious mouthfeel. Alcohol nose is much more subdued than previous tastings but still a massive wine matching its pedigree. Classic Bordeaux with roti de boeuf character. Medium bodied. Probably at the end of its range so lucky its the last one in the cellar. Really enjoyable.

Never would have guessed 5 years old. Aussie, that I'd have guessed.

Eucalyptus and some classic Bordeaux characters led me to call it French. Was thinking Aussies were all bigger and not so restrained. Wrong again.

One of the celebrity names in Australian wine first wine dating back to 1958, an old family production, with vineyards first being planted in 1861 - this wine is great with spicy profile and bringing a lot in the glass, excellent experience 😃

The 2011 vintage is a blend of 54% Shiraz and 46% CS. This shows more red fruits than dark fruits, mingled with aromas of espresso, incense, black pepper, and violet. Very youthful with good depth and complexity. Very fine tannins. The green pepper note seemed to be a bit unforgiven - I usually don’t mind it at all. My first bottle from Henschke, and it was a good one.

Robust red. Savoury nose but fruit driven flavours. Rich velvety mouth feel with long, lingering finish.

Gorgeous. Lush and big, but in balance. Big black fruits, great structure, moderate spice.
