this pinot gris from gernot heinrich is mash fermented, unfiltrated and barrique aged (used) on it's own yeasts.
impressive red color, in the nose dominant caramel fudge followed by rock flour, red eraser rubber and light cherry, aerated more blossoms, floral instead of caramel; red currant and a nice touch of peated whiskey.
saline + bone dry appearence on the palate, yet creamy - a mouthful sensation of unconventional, maybe intellectual making: one of these wines like ex vero which manage the balancing act of being silent and incredibly vivid at the very same time!
you can feel the passion of the winemaker for his relatively new line "freyheit" - meaning free of bonds...
