Back in the 1970s two young teachers named Erl and Ros Happ decided to plant a wide range of wine grape đ varieties in WAâs Margaret River region. Today the Happs estate vineyards produce more than 30 grape varieties!
And this wine is made up of three of those varieties. Introducing the Happs âThree Hillsâ 2018 Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro blend. The majority, 61% is made up of Grenache, followed by 26% Shiraz and the remainder Mataro (aka Mourvèdre). $30 per bottle via the Happs website.
A big thank you to Happs for sending over this sample for us to try đ
In the glass we found it a garnet shade. The nose made me think of jam on toast, cherries, vanilla oak and leather while in the mouth itâs super smooth with a bit of spice, oak, blackberry & raspberry and chocolate covered liquorice. Delish!
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
