Black and white pepper! If you know me, a Syrah only gets me really excited when it's peppery, and this one has beautiful aromas and flavors of dark cherry and cassis, overlaid with a lovely pepper that carries right through the finish. Interesting, complex and absolutely delicious! One of many wines we enjoyed here today--a very pleasant surprise.

We belong to the Gustafson wine club. It's the first wine club my wife and I have agreed on for both white and red. The Petit Syrah from 2013 was stunning and this is just about as nice. Pairs well with a home made pepperoni pizza that doesn't have a spiced sauce. Licorice, raspberry and vanilla and notes. Lots of pepper!
