Gunderloch
Pettenthal GG trocken Riesling
Oh, this is good, albeit just a babe. It has well-defined, pronounced aromas and flavors, including, unripe and youthful apple, white peach, lime peel, cantaloupe rind, honeysuckle, citrus blossom, petrol, beeswax, honeycomb, chalk, oyster shell, and wet slate.
On the palate it’s dry, with a medium body, and medium alcohol (11.5%). It offers racy acidity and precision with a lingering finish.
This wine has the structure to age and develop additional complexity, softening some of the sharper notes into rounder, dried fruit and/or additional honeyed, characteristics.

Unscrew and pour. Notes from 3 hrs open. Somewhat monolithic at the moment. On the nose: soft peach, chalk, lemon, and some green herbs. On the palate: a tidal wave of chalk, stone and lemon, with some bitterness...fantastic density and acid, but just overpowering right now...amazing dry extract, but this needs time to settle down...finish is pure lemon and wet stone with an energetic zing. Loads of youthful vigor, but seems like it needs a long slumber...for my palate, wait as long as possible to revisit.
