Grosjean Frères
Vigne Tzeriat Vallee d'Aoste Pinot Noir
Pale garnet, some bricking already. Overwhelmingly volatile and Bretty at first but comes together beautifully with air. Really remarkable transformation. Sour cherry, rhubarb, roses, ruby red grapefruit, herbal/vegetal notes, bitter slightly oxidative finish. Tart, sweet raspberry and floral tones increasingly predominated as the evening went on. Almost gave up on this one but I really enjoyed it—a reminder that some wines can really rebound if given a chance to breathe!

May 5th, 2023Thin, pale orangish-ruby in color. Sour cherry, moss, & black tea. Needs more gumption.

Jul 8th, 2020This is a big, musty cherry, stewed baking spices, old-vine Alpine Pinot. The only slight turn-off for me is the sweet finish... otherwise a terrific effort. SommSelect Fall 2018.

Jan 26th, 2019So my friend in the industry says to me, "I'm really into Italian pinot noir right now." Say what? So we order this little gem and holy cow!! Bright red cherries, raspberries, spice (black tea and touch of clove) with great concentration and depth. I was surprised how balanced the wine was showing elegance all the while having bold flavors and length. And the price to boot. Yes, Italian Pinot Noir, I'm your new biggest fan!

Mar 21st, 2015A really unique Itslian Pinot. Super young but super drinkable. Med bodied red fruit with with a salty thing going on. Minus the mystery of Burgundy and minus the obviousness of Ca Pinot. At $33 retail a real value
