Grosjean Frères
Vallée d'Aoste Gamay
Really enjoyable. Lots of typical Gamay character with big red fruit and acidity, but surprising earth and some funk with a pleasing Brettanomyces thing happening. A true bargain at $15 to boot.

Dec 3rd, 2017Beautiful deep red, with a coppery tinge. Rich perfume, and overripe raspberries and plums on the nose. Slippery, almost syrupy mouthfeel. Buttered sourdough, and warm honey at the start. Lively acidity, red apple, balanced tannins; Undercurrents of sorrel, and currants. Lasting finish: warm, fragrant, dancing acidity. Damn, this is even better chilled. Can't wait to try more from this region. An interesting introduction to Gamay.
