2010. This wine has come a long way in the last year. A real sexy bottle!

Jul 10th, 2014Took a sideways step on a sunny London day and decided to open this; a previous commentator mentioned that it had 15% Albillo in it and that perhaps accounts for the smoothness it has, immediately complicated by rich kirsch cherries. Drinking pretty well right now and could conceivably take another couple years to really show what it can do.

Aug 20th, 2023Bright and acidic, sour dry cherries. Firm tannins and tightly wound.

Jan 5th, 2022A little disjointed but showing a lot better than the Arcilla did a few months ago, and I'm thinking a few months more ought to knit these together nicely. Gushing with warm dark fruit but also has plenty of crackle and crunch on account of a green-apple sort of acidity that's very unusual to experience in a red wine. The Jose Pastor web site says this is from one of the highest elevation sites in the zone at 1,000 meters so that crackling texture makes perfect sense. It also has 15% Albillo (a white grape) and yet the complexion feels darker and the fruit more voluptuous than the 100% tempranillo Arcilla.
