Campus Oaks Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel

A fun, fruity zin with great jammy flavor. The finish is silky. A bit lighter than I prefer, but very acceptable based on price.

Exactly what you want from a zin

Following advice from other reviewers, I agree this is better slightly chilled. Leather and red berries on the nose and palate. Pepper on the end - much more after chilling slightly than at room temp. Light mouthfeel and medium/low tannins. Not as complex as many great OVZs. Imminently drinkable. Unremarkable accompanying tomato-based pasta, and it didn’t hold up to a flavorful cheese course either. Okay, but not great.

Chocolate and spice, they go so nice! Smells like a dessert wine and grew on us with every sip. Lots of nice spice.

Dark berry and jammy. Slight sweetness. Improved after being slightly chilled.

Ruby color and flabby if drinking at room temp. Chilled slightly brings out jammy cherry notes and smoothness.

If this is old vine, then call me miles Davis. Perfectly smooth drinking wine.
