Gilbert Cellars
Left Bank Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
Just home from work and open this Bordeaux blend from Gilbert Cellars of Yakima, WA. At first sniff I get deep black fruit, stewed prunes, blackberry, black currant, star anise and leather. On the palate up front I get blackberry, black currant, green herbal note probably from the cab franc, licorice, medium + tannins, medium acidity. The front end is all excited and giddy from the acidity I am sure, then the mid palate continues with a nice smooth sandy tannins but the loses something in the end. It just doesn't give you that big finish. It wants to but just falls short. A nice wine for $19.99 at my store of choice. I would buy it again.
