Had my first one of these 256 weeks ago - say 5 years ago - see that and subsequent Delectable notes. This was my last one. Has become very savoury with Charcuterie notes - still stalky notes. I don’t mind savoury winning out over fruity. As mentioned before the Yarra does the Burgundian varieties well as well as Cabernet and Syrah.

Prior notes from 125 weeks ago still apply although I didn’t find this full bodied like I said over 2 years ago. There was that stalkiness and more savoury than fruity. The Yarra Valley is so versatile and does all the great grape varieties well with the exception of Riesling which is not planted.

The Village Syrah is great value for money but the Tarraford just adds so many layers and interest it’s easy to see why it’s holds its own as a single site expression.

Tasted with a Mclaren Vale Shiraz, picked early and made to be at home in a cool climate tasting room.

Spicy cool climate aromas with a stalky note on nose and palate. Medium to full bodied with fine persistent tannins. Great balance of subdued savoury tannins and Fruit with Oak in the background. Northern Rhone in style. Great on its own or with food.

Deep crimson with purple tinges showing its youth. Spicy plummy aromas with some stalkiness. One of the most full bodied Yarra Valley Syrahs I have ever had. Excellent wine as you would expect from Steve Flamsteed in a very good vintage in the Yarra. A good core of fruit and tannin for extended cellaring.

Finishing off the last of this from our trip to Australia several years ago. This is light on its feet but great flavor
