After being disappointed last week by another questionable Monfortino I decided to open a different wine from the same producer - a Conterno Francia 2005. But this one purchased from my local wine shop. It was as outstanding as always. Strong on the nose from the first pour. Heady earthy aromatics. Beautiful in the glass clear on edge with orange ring. The wine grips nicely on the sides. Cherry bursting through and the finish lingers ever so tantalizingly long. Sampled with some Italian truffle cheese - it made for a nice Sunday afternoon!
