"Cheap" barolo bought with a discount for about 17 USD a bottle in equivalent local currency. The nose is true to type but a little bit refrained. The bottle was stored in the colder part of my wine fridge but I took the bottle out about an hour ago now. Cherry, rose petals, that tar thing. There is also a bit of bread crumbs on the nose too. My daughter says pine cones, too. The palate is rather round in the context of a barolo (think gentle langhe nebiollo) but still shows some acid drive, some juicy cherry notes all along, good width, some lively tannins in the rear, as one might expect, before a long, slightly drying, cherry juicy, a tad bitter finish that goes on for a while. Notes of tobacco and a tiny umami touch pop up in the very end. Easy, basic barolo which does the job.
