See several previous Delectable notes. Deeply coloured but not deep in palate - medium bodied. Liquorice and almonds, a juicy palate. Finishes with a skinnsy bitter note. Great with free range chicken legs. Probably best drunk young. From a highly reputable producer in GD Vayra. My last bottle of 6.

See previous Delectable Notes from June 2020. Very dark Ruby in colour. Ripe cherry and liquorice on nose and palate - cherry skins. A medium weight palate finishing with fine powdery tannins. Dolcetto is essentially a simple wine (went well with Quiche) but when made by a producer of the reputation of G D Vajra its a particularly good representation of the grape. See previous note from October 2021, 48 weeks ago. Not sure I’ve ever got my head around the characteristics of Dolcetto - like a detuned Nebbiolo. Notes as previous with fine chalky tannins.

The 2019 Dolcetto d'Alba is fresh, fruity and absolutely delicious. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit and licorice are nicely layered. Drink this mid-weight, perfumed, classically built Dolcetto over the next handful of years. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, September 2021)

Dark crimson with youthful purple tinges. Very aromatic, fresh and primary with bright red fruits and an earthy liquorice and skinnsy note. No oak influence as it is aged in stainless steel. On the medium weight palate more of those bright red fruits of cherry and also red liquorice finishing with low tannins. Nice and savoury and eminently quaffable - drink over the next few years. Better to drink when young and fresh than to cellar and pick up a little more complexity. Drinks to its price point. Would sell plenty of this as a bistro wine by the glass.

I love Dolcetto! In the glass it explodes with fresh violets and licorice. Palate is met with dried herbs and rich cherry. Lingering tannins on the finish.

A touch simple, but it's Dolcetto, so..... brilliant effort!
