Green and black pepper, stewed dark fruit, leather, and black tea. The 2007 is smooth and well blended, but may be on the backside of its aging apex, with a bit more oxidation and a bit less tart fruit and acid than I’ve tasted in the past. Still a great wine.

Jun 8th, 2019Nose is leather, cherry, and black pepper. On the palate it starts with strawberry and cherry, but the black pepper comes rushing in followed by leather. The wine finishes with moderate plus tannins and a nice acid sizzle. This is a cab built for a juicy pepper steak.

Oct 11th, 2017Not as complex as the early 2000's Blackjack vintages, the 2007 is still a good peppery cab that matched well with grilled steak. There is more fruit here but still lost of leather and minerals that are the hallmark of a blackjack.
