Gaia (Gaia's Estate)
S Agiorgitiko & Syrah
Vintage 2017 70% agiorgitiko 30% syrah / Last week I tasted this wine blind in a tasting from @Toos Dusee / I was absolutely convinced to taste gamay because of the freshness and fruity expression. After unwrapping I still could not believe: a Greek wine. So I wanted to taste it next to gamay which I did today. The gamay (Fleurie) is more fruity, while this wine has earthy and mineral tones, the fruit is - how do I say it? - more heavy. More cherries than strawberry. Blindtasting stays very difficult whatever experience you have got. Paired this supple and fine Greek with pork.

May 30th, 2019Nice purple colour with aromas of violets and marmelade. Bursting with jammy dark fruit such as blueberries and blackberries, balanced by lots of tannins. Very intense, full-bodied taste.
