This red wine is from the Peloponnese which is the southernmost part of the Greek mainland. Agiorgitiko is native to this peninsula. It is rich Ruby in the glass with aromatics of plum, prune, licorice and tar. For the warm sunny conditions this is lacking the fruit depth compared to say an Australian red - more like an Etna red. Finishes with fine powdery tannins and an astringent touch. The following day the palate reminded me of a Tuscan Sangiovese with sour cherry and fine grainy tannins. Enjoyable - would buy again.

Vintage 2017 70% agiorgitiko 30% syrah / Last week I tasted this wine blind in a tasting from @Toos Dusee / I was absolutely convinced to taste gamay because of the freshness and fruity expression. After unwrapping I still could not believe: a Greek wine. So I wanted to taste it next to gamay which I did today. The gamay (Fleurie) is more fruity, while this wine has earthy and mineral tones, the fruit is - how do I say it? - more heavy. More cherries than strawberry. Blindtasting stays very difficult whatever experience you have got. Paired this supple and fine Greek with pork.

Did Gaia say Agiorghitiko and Syrah? Yep. Yes they did! And it's really f'ing good! The Syrah lends body and volume and new world fruit to the herbaceous Agiorghitiko. Easy going price too!

My first Greek wine. Modern style Syrah, could be from many places. Nose with confectionery notes. Not much oak influence. A pleasant enough drink. More savoury than fruit driven. 17.

Nice purple colour with aromas of violets and marmelade. Bursting with jammy dark fruit such as blueberries and blackberries, balanced by lots of tannins. Very intense, full-bodied taste.

Full body with smooth, velvet texture, despite being unfiltered. Red fruits.

Интенсивнейший фиолетовый цвет. Аромат смородины, черники, чуть ваниль. Вкус полный, танины еще кусачие. Долгое теплое послевкусие с тонами шоколада, перца и специй. Очень молодое, ему бы полежать.
