Dec 30th, 2019Let's hope the sale price had nothing to do with 2014 being one of the most disappointing vintages in the South since 2008! Bottle built to survive a nuclear detonation. Syrah and Mourvedre led meaty and black pepper nose. And there it is. No fruit intensity in the palate. Highish acid, almost citrus redcurrants in there with the dilute black fruit. Tannins subtle and only really give the structure needed at the finish. With a bit of air this comes together, blackberries and reduced sourness, tannins open up.
