Franck Balthazar
Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
Warm and inviting black/purple berry fruit, woodsmoke, resinous herbs, granite, iron, taffy and apricot pit, ink. The front in is classic CH with the rich and voluptuous fruit character, but the finish departs with a serious edge of minerality and coarse tannin, reminiscent of classic Cornas. The vintage evident in the dry extract and ripening profile.

Aug 4th, 2022This is so good for the price. Savory black olives for days, along with bright clean fruit and surprising flavor depth.

May 10th, 2021Had this next to Graillot’s version and this, while slightly more opulent, was the winner for me by a hair. Great length and a deft balance between ripe red fruit and savory olives and underbrush.
