This is my last bottle, and the notes are consistent. I might have completely botched things drinking them too early, but sometimes you drink a wine that doesn't quite do it for you and you know no amount of aging is going to help. There is a harshness that isn't tannic or over oaked, and although you will never see this on a tasting wheel, there's a hint of pickled beet (and if you're thinking "pickled beet doesn't sound like something that would make a wine spectacular" you're right). The redeeming quality here is that it's just fine for cooking and added a nice touch to a braised veal shank ragu.

Fontinos 2009. Big napa cab. Really quite good, not too obnoxious. Very fruity. Could have used another year or two on the shelf but overall really enjoyed. Great steak wine.
