Le Grive Monferrato Red Blend

A somewhat unusual blend of 80% Barbera & 20% Pinot Noir from Piemonte. It works, with bright red berry fruit & Barbera's typical tangy acidity.

Dec 16th, 2013A little bit of old world meets new world. A solid streak of coppery earth meets the nose first, black bruised fruit, some lighter red fruit notes and a solid pinch of black pepper (with just a whiff of green vegetation). The palette is both light and rich at the same time. Really nice tannins for a younger wine (‘15) with the earth delivering the fruits on its back. If there’s such a thing as simple complexity, this wine excels. Perfect with penne ala vodka.
