Fleur de Charme Sauternes 2013. My first time trying Sauternes. On the nose, there’s a delicious apricot like Icewine scent. I’m not sure if it’s the way that Sauternes is made with the noble rot, but I’d rather a Canadian Icewine than this. At first it’s quite sweet when first on the tongue. However, practically instantly after swallowing I get this unique after taste which I assume must be from the raisined effect of the noble rot. The best I could describe it would be like prune, sour, rotten. This may be the reason some people really enjoy this wine, due to it not being overly too sweet and slightly higher in alcohol than Icewine. But in my opinion from have trying Canadian Icewine first, that is my personal favourite.
This also was a pretty cheap Sauternes, so it may be lacking in complexity from the top notch brands such as Château d’Yquem.
