Dry climate Spanish wine. A little too bright and harsh for my liking but still just okay.

Jul 17th, 2024The strangest red wine I have had. On opening it had a nose of pig farm. Very acrid and string. The taste was very much farm but more tolerable. On day 2 it had mellowed so less tangy, and showing more earthiness and less manure. By day three it was a good full red with tannin, fruit, some layers of flavors, mushrooms. By day 4 it was a dark red wine. Totally old world. Totally not Cabernet or any regular grape. Big and bold but not rich and jammy at all. I want to try more examples of Mencia as it is really intriguing. Generally though it would go with with robust meats, cheeses and stews.
