Ferraton Père & Fils
La Matinière Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
Tasting this over the last 3 evenings - a textbook Crozes.
Meaty, fatty with loads of bacon & black olives at the beginning, starts showing the pure blackberry-blueberry compote only on day 3. Plus a healthy does of cloves & allspice.
On the palate it started off quite rich & full with quite chewy & juicy tannins. On day 3 the fruit diminishes, the tannins mellow, the bright acidity emerges forefront.
Not a bad wine per se, typical Northern Rhône. Nothing to get too much excited about either.
Well worth its price.
