Bought this bottle for $12.99 at a local liquor store. It was the last bottle, and I immediately noticed the year and thought why not give it a shot. My guess is the package store forgot they had a case of this in the back. The color has the typical brick tone for a red with some age. It also has a pleasant coppery appearance. It smells like aged, ripe fruit; figgy, and I’d guess it was a port if I was blindfolded. The taste is sweet, but thin and missing body from tannins and acid. Maybe it never had them to begin with? Or maybe it was the years that did away with those essential elements. Either way—it’s sweet, and not much else. For the money, it was a worthwhile trek off the beaten path.
