[Sorry couldn't find an entry, logging here Failla 2018 Pearl essence] Single clone - Martini. One taste it surely reminds me of a bottle of Burn Cottage I had a while ago - the same acid lift and acid structure, tomato leaf, sour cranberry, citrusy and bright, red flowers and white + black peppers. 400-500 feet inland, super cool microclimate. Ah it turns out both connected to ted lemon!

On the nose, smoke with a touch of char, ripe, ruby, candied, gummy, fruits of; blackberries black cherries, baked plum, strawberries, baked cranberries, raspberries with pomegranate extract. Dark, warm, rich earth, limestone minerals, dry crushed rocks, dark fresh floral bouquet and a field of spring violets.

You won’t mistake this for red Burgundy. The body is full and rich. Rounded, softened, chewy, sticky tannins. The palate has; the same smoke with char on the nose. The fruits are; ripe, sweet with a gummy bears quality. Yet on the long set, just a touch of sour. Blackberries black cherries, baked plum, strawberries, baked cranberries, raspberries, notes of blue fruits, with pomegranate extract. Cola, dark, dry herbs, warm, rich earth, saddlewood, limestone minerals, soft medium spice, dry crushed rocks, dark fresh floral bouquet and a field of spring violets. The acidity is round and pours like a steady stream on your tongue. The long; rich, ripe, well balance & polished finish lasts minutes. Drinking nicely with many years of good drink ahead...now through 2027.

Photos of; one of the Failla vineyards, Winemaker Ehren Jordan, fruit headed to the cellar for pressing and their comfortable tasting lounge/barrel room.

Occidental Ridge...the Sonoma Coast Pinot by this label is amazing...great with Italian wood fired pizza. nice fruit forward wine. Great long lingering finish with a little tobacco...cranberry on the palate. Juniper in the nose is unique.

Execellent wine.... Cooler vintage that was opened 7 years too early, however the wine is tasting fantastic. Charm, tense and clearly displays vineyard pedigree.

Echoes Old World. More acidic presence, and tannins become more grainy. Damp earth, cherries, sweet wood, red currant
